WE ARE Khandekars
The seeds of the institute were planted on May 15, 1945, when renowned indian classical singers Shri Vilasrao Khandekar and Smt. Lilatai Khandekar commenced coaching Hindustani classical vocal music from their humble abode in Ahmedabad.
The year 1970 ushered in with the launch of the celebrated Khandekar Brothers orchestra by Shri Sudhir Khandekar and Shri Sharad Khandekar, performing hindi film music at national and international levels, with the addition of Smt. Vasanti Khandekar as a singer in 1973.

The year 1970 ushered in with the launch of the celebrated Khandekar Brothers orchestra by Shri Sudhir Khandekar and Shri Sharad Khandekar, performing hindi film music at national and international levels, with the addition of Smt. Vasanti Khandekar as a singer in 1973.
A sublime artist, Shri Sudhir Khandekar started his musical journey as a violinist, achieving all india first rank in alankar hindustani classical in violin. His prolific music career includes being a composer and an arranger, a revered music critic for the times of india for years, and conducting music workshops and choirs at Gujarat University. On the other hand, Smt. Vasanti Khandekar is a renowned vocalist, celebrated for her onstage music performances and a notable career as a light vocal singer at All India Radio.
Come year 1989, in the process of orchestration, Shri Sudhir Khandekar started to learn western notations, and commenced the coaching classes, starting with instrumental music (keyboard) and light vocals.

Soon after, his elder son Aniket Khandekar joined in coaching Hindustani classical vocal music at the tender age of 20. Subsequently, his younger son Anuprit Khandekar began coaching keyboard at a young age of 16. This was then followed by inauguration of the flagship branch of Khandekars Institute in 1994, where Anuprit then introduced guitar as a subject the following year.
Nrupi Khandekar, hailing from a non-music family, joined Khandekars by learning the ropes of guitar in 1997, and from 1999, started tutoring the same instrument as an assistant to Anuprit. Having full faith in herself at the age of 20, since 2001, she started individually handling a separate branch, coaching keyboard and guitar, and very recently, vocals.
Soon after, his elder son Aniket Khandekar joined in coaching Hindustani classical vocal music at the tender age of 20. Subsequently, his younger son Anuprit Khandekar began coaching keyboard at a young age of 16. This was then followed by inauguration of the flagship branch of Khandekars Institute in 1994, where Anuprit then introduced guitar as a subject the following year.

Always offering something novel in music to their students, Khandekars started coaching western music and coaching for international-level music exams from 2015. And there has been no looking back ever since, as the institute’s students have consistently topped the Ahmedabad centre among hundreds of participants each year.
The year 2017 witnessed another high – Anuprit Khandekar started coaching music production course at his own recording studio – ‘Studio Anahat’, which boasts of sophisticated sound engineering equipment.
A recent addition to the repertoire of services is the western and Indian contemporary vocals and piano coaching, which will surely jazz up the holistic Khandekars tutoring experience, with their peculiar, soul-stirring touch.
Serving the global music community, the legacy of melodious contribution by Khandekars to the ever-changing music and entertainment landscape continues…
